- All horses undergoing hydrotherapy and physiotherapy treatment at Herts Horses Hydrotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre Ltd do so at their own risk. We will not be held responsible for any injury suffered by horses or their owners using the facilities. Nor will we be held responsible for the insurance of the said horse, for loss or loss of equipment pertaining to said horse. All horses having hydrotherapy or physiotherapy treatment at Herts Horses Hydrotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre Ltd do so at their owner’s risk.
- We do not accept any responsibility for the loss or damage to personal belongings in the centre.
- All horses MUST have veterinary permission from their vet before receiving hydrotherapy or physiotherapy treatment under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. A separate veterinary referral document will be signed to confirm veterinary permission.
- The owner is responsible for ensuring their own insurance company is aware of the treatment the horse is receiving.
- All persons entering the hydrotherapy room enter at their own risk and must be dressed accordingly and wearing personal protective equipment including sturdy non-slip footwear, gloves and a riding helmet, jewellery is not permitted. Anyone not wearing PPE clothing does so at their own risk.
- Only staff may load and hold the horse during hydrotherapy sessions and/or operate the controls for the equipment.
- In the event that a horse may require sedation, the owner must take responsibility to contact their vet and organize this. We are able to utilize our own vet for this purpose, but additional charges will be incurred.
- Any horse in the centre deemed by staff as a risk of health and safety to staff, the horse or any other person or animal will have their treatment postponed and asked to leave until the treatment can be carried out safely. Full payment of the session will be applicable. Staff will then discuss with the owner regarding further treatment and management needed in order to carry out safe treatment.
- For safety of the handler and the horse, all horses will be treated for hydrotherapy using a bridle, or in extenuating circumstances, staff will use a chifney to ensure health and safety is maximized.
- In the event that the horse requires veterinary treatment whilst on site, the centre manager will inform the owner, and it is then the owner’s responsibility to contact the veterinary centre for treatment either on site or back at home. If the handler with the horse is not the owner it will be the handlers responsibility to contact the owner and discuss treatment.
- If veterinary treatment is carried out at the centre with our vet (The Royal Veterinary College), any costs incurred will be invoiced to the owner.
- We require 48 hours notice for cancellations; otherwise the normal full session fee will be applicable unless there are extenuating circumstances, which will be decided by the centre manager.
- Copies of passports and evidence of up to date vaccinations are required for bio-security reasons, please provide us with copies before your first visit.
- Any horse presenting with abnormal signs of possible illness e.g. raised temperature, abnormal nasal discharge, inflamed glands etc. will be sent away for bio-security reasons. Please contact us if you are unsure for us to advise.
- Please do not wander around the farm, please stay in the car park or within the centre for bio-security reasons.
